Sealless Reliability: Iwaki MDM Magnetic Drive Pumps with Slurry Bearing
Iwaki magnetic drive MDM pumps are known worldwide for their reliability in handling aggressive and hazardous liquids.
Thanks to the sealless magnetic drive design, the pumps operate without mechanical seals, eliminating the risk of leakage and reducing maintenance requirements — a key advantage for demanding industrial processes.
These pumps are built for harsh environments. Both the pumps and the baseplates are protected with a C5 coating, providing excellent corrosion resistance in aggressive atmospheres.
The pumps are fitted with a special slurry bearing configuration, specifically developed for liquids containing a higher concentration of particles.
The axial groove inside the bearing allows particles to be flushed away more efficiently, preventing clogging of the flushing channels and ensuring reliable operation.
With this configuration, applications with up to 8–10% particle content and particle sizes up to approximately 100 µm can be handled. In comparison, standard SiC bearings typically allow up to 5% particles with a maximum size of around 50 µm.
For applications with higher particle loads, flushing the pump after use is recommended to prevent particles from settling in the pump housing and potentially blocking the impeller during restart.
A robust and reliable solution for challenging process conditions.
