Meet the team: Martijn
Get to know Martijn, one of our colleagues who effortlessly combines technical depth with a strong understanding of customers and tailor-made solutions.
Martijn graduated in 2020 with a Master’s degree in Bio-Engineering Sciences. What immediately attracted him to this field? The wide range of scientific subjects and the many opportunities after graduation. That curiosity and broad interest are still very much present today – and prove to be a real asset in his role.
After gaining experience in technical and project-based functions, Martijn found an extra dimension in sales. “Sales is not about smooth talk,” he explains. “It’s about clear communication, listening, and delivering on your promises.”
By truly understanding his customers and their context, he is able to offer solutions that are not only technically sound, but also save time, reduce frustration, and cut unnecessary costs. And that is exactly what gives him the most satisfaction.
In his current role, Martijn is responsible for a diverse customer portfolio within the ‘Water’ segment. From chemical water treatment, water purification, and drinking water production to swimming pools, engineering firms, and metal pre-treatment processes – the variety is extensive. With a complementary range of pumps and measurement and control technology, he helps customers automate their processes without losing control over critical parameters.
The result? More consistent and higher quality output, time savings, safer working conditions, and more efficient use of chemicals and energy.
What does he enjoy most about his job? The constant evolution. New products, new applications, new industries – no two days are the same. This variety makes the job both challenging and exciting.
What gives him energy in his work?
The combination of theory and practice. Martijn has learned things you won’t find in textbooks: from Torx keys and adhesive fittings to volute casings and other “exotic creatures.” By working hands-on with the products, he has built up a library of practical experience that helps him think along with customers and provide better advice.
Martijn’s quick choices:
- Start early or work late? Work late – just like during student days, it fits his rhythm perfectly 😉
- Calling or emailing? He has evolved from an emailer to a caller. Both have their value, but the personal element of a phone call often makes the difference.
- Planning or improvising?
“Plans are worthless, but planning is everything” – D. Eisenhower. Without planning, you cannot set priorities, both personally and professionally. At the same time, there are often too many moving parts to fix everything into a rigid schedule. Maintaining an overview, anticipating different scenarios, and being well prepared is essential – and whatever cannot be predicted, you tackle as it comes. Fortunately, he can always count on a strong team by his side.
